There’s more than one way to enjoy the Saltbox Terrace. Overlooking Wunderlich Lane, on the cusp of Surry Hills and Redfern, our all-weather space brings a little fresh air to events in Sydney.
Whether you’re planning a brand breakfast, a long lunch or a cocktail gathering, here are three ways to make the Terrace part of your Saltbox event.
Breakfast worth getting up for
There’s something welcoming about arriving to coffee and a table of pastries from Bakehouse Twenty, our in-house bakery. Guests catch up, make introductions and eye off what they’ll try first.
For a brand launch, client gathering or team breakfast, a breakfast bar keeps things relaxed. Everyone can help themselves, move between conversations and go back for another bite.
A seated breakfast offers a slower pace. Start with pastries and seasonal fruit to share, followed by a plated meal, with time for a welcome or a few words around the table.
You can get creative with the occasion, too. QV Skincare hosted yoga in the Saltbox suites before bringing guests onto the Terrace for breakfast. A stretch, some fresh air and something delicious waiting afterwards—we can see the appeal.
Settle in for lunch
The table is set, the focaccia is being passed around and nobody’s in a hurry to leave.
Lunch on the Terrace gives people time together, whether you’re thanking clients, celebrating a team milestone or hosting a brand gathering. Add flowers and thoughtful place settings, or keep things simple and let the food do most of the talking.
A shared menu brings an easy rhythm to the occasion, with platters moving around the table and guests offering each other second helpings. A plated lunch gives you a more structured pace, particularly if there are speeches or announcements to work around.
Both have their charms. It comes down to the kind of lunch you have in mind—and how much room you’ve left for dessert.
Golden hour, cocktail in hand
Guests arrive, drinks are poured and the afternoon light softens across the Terrace. There are familiar faces to find and new people to meet, with canapés making their way through the crowd.
For a brand launch, client drinks or an end-of-year celebration, this is a lovely time to gather. A food station gives guests somewhere to gravitate towards, while a few places to perch let them settle into a conversation as Wunderlich Lane lights up below.
The Terrace can also offer a sociable finish to an event in the suites or The Box. Close the laptops, step outside and spend some time with the people behind the name badges.
Either way, there’s a good reason to stay a little longer.
